Our Curriculum

At Palm Tree Prep Academy, we integrate Florida’s rigorous state standards with an expeditionary learning approach that brings academics to life through hands-on, real-world experiences. Our curriculum is designed to meet each student’s zone of proximal development, ensuring personalized growth while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

For the 2025–2026 school year, we focus on the following core areas:

History & Social Studies – Florida Standards-Aligned Exploration
Students engage with Florida’s history and social studies standards through immersive projects and field experiences. From local ecosystems to state history, lessons are enriched with hands-on activities and community explorations, helping students understand their place in the world and the impact of history on their lives.

Science – Florida Next Generation Sunshine State Standards
Our science program emphasizes inquiry and experimentation aligned with Florida’s NGSSS. Students explore life, physical, and earth sciences through outdoor investigations, experiments, and real-world applications. Field trips to Southwest Florida’s unique environments, such as mangroves and wetlands, deepen their understanding and appreciation for the natural world.

Literacy & Language Arts – Florida Standards with Integrated Themes
Literacy instruction follows Florida’s rigorous language arts standards, woven together with thematic units that connect reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students read diverse texts, including stories tied to their social studies and science topics, encouraging meaningful connections and enriched comprehension.

Art & Creativity – Integrated with History and Nature
Students explore artistic expression through lessons connected to the historical periods and natural environments they study. Using Florida standards for visual arts, they learn techniques in drawing, painting, and mixed media, while also gaining appreciation for local culture and artistic heritage.

At Palm Tree Prep Academy, collaboration and community are central. Our project-based learning model encourages students to work together, develop lasting friendships, and become active learners who engage deeply with both their studies and their surroundings.

A short break to enjoy a snack from home, stretch, and chat with friends. This relaxed time helps build community and connection.

Depending on the week, this could be Science Experiments, Social Studies Projects, or STEM Challenges—all designed to inspire curiosity and teamwork.

12:00 PM – Wrap-Up & Reflection
We gather to share what we learned, set personal goals, and celebrate successes.

12:00–12:15 PM – Support Time
An open time for students to ask questions, review concepts, or get extra help. This quiet, supportive moment ensures every child leaves feeling confident about their progress.

At Palm Tree Prep Academy, learning goes beyond the classroom walls. Through our expeditionary learning model, students actively engage with the world around them to deepen their understanding of science, history, and culture. Whether kayaking through the mangroves to study coastal ecosystems, visiting the Edison and Ford Winter Estates to explore innovation, or discovering local wildlife at the Calusa Nature Center, our students connect real-world experiences with academic knowledge. These hands-on adventures foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning — all while celebrating the unique environment of Southwest Florida.
